Two words in today's New York Times jumped off the screen, prompting me to write this "Chip on Your Shoulder" column.
Researching and writing it helped me reconsider my criticism of the interviewing methods of the White House press corps. At the same time, it gave me hope; perhaps there's growing awareness that the way journalists ask questions often plays into the hands of sources intent on controlling their message.
Best of all, I got to find out how many things the phrase "double-barreled" can modify.
And to think it all started with a simple barbecue, German style.
